Autism is a developmental disability that usually appears during the first three years of life and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. In 2012, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 1 in every 88 births in the United States was an Autistic child.
The second annual Autism Walk for Hope will take place on Saturday, April 20, to benefit services for people with Autism. Registration begins at 8:30 in the Lions club park area at Lake Sacajawea in Longview. The funds raised from the walk helps people with disabilities, including those with Autism and their families, to find the support they need to be successful.
